A Lesson From The Blooming Flowers
In my backyard, there’s a plant that blooms the most beautiful purple flowers.
Every morning, new blossoms open! Fresh, vibrant, full of color.
By the end of the day, those same flowers have fallen to the ground.
And then the next morning?
New blooms appear again.
Every single day.
It has become one of my favorite quiet reminders.
God designed creation to preach to us.
Those flowers don’t cling to yesterday’s bloom.
They don’t mourn the ones that fell.
They simply open again when the sun rises.
And I often think, how much peace would we have if we lived like that?
Each morning is new.
Each day is a gift.
Yesterday’s impatience.
Yesterday’s frustration.
Yesterday’s missed quiet time.
Yesterday’s harsh words.
They do not have to define today.
Scripture tells us:
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
— Lamentations 3:22–23
Just like those purple blooms, God gives us fresh mercy with the sunrise.
Slow mornings are not about perfection.
They are about receiving what is new.
When we wake with that posture — life changes.
We begin again.
We try again.
We soften again.
We surrender again.
And in that rhythm, grace grows.
